Anthem of the Seas Docked at Port Eden for Essential Propulsion Repairs
Royal Caribbean’s ship, Anthem of the Seas, docked at Eden, New South Wales, on January 29th, following a propulsion system issue that was discovered during its South Pacific itinerary. The 4,900-passenger vessel had set sail from Sydney on January 19th, headed toward New Caledonia and Vanuatu when the technical issue arose, forcing the ship to return to Australia at reduced speed.
This situation resulted in the cancellation of Anthem of the Seas’ scheduled 10-night voyage to New Zealand, which was supposed to depart Sydney on January 27th. In response to the disruption, Royal Caribbean implemented a compensation plan for the affected guests. This included full reimbursements for cruise fares and all prepaid onboard purchases, as well as an additional future cruise credit worth 25% of the original fare. Guests were also reimbursed for any consequential travel expenses, such as flights and accommodations that were incurred due to the cancellation.
After completing the necessary repairs, the Anthem OTS is anticipated to depart Eden for Sydney on February 4th and will promptly resume its revenue operations, starting with a 7-night cruise to Queensland slated for February 6th.
