Carnival Sunshine’s Departure from Norfolk Delayed by One Day
Carnival Cruise Line has announced a delay for the Carnival Sunshine, which was originally set to depart from Norfolk on February 7, 2026. Due to adverse weather conditions, the Port of Norfolk will be closed, and the ship’s return from its current voyage will be postponed for one day.
"In order to keep you informed about your cruise, we need your immediate attention regarding this advisory," the statement read. The ship is now expected to arrive on February 8, resulting in a shortened itinerary for the upcoming cruise that was scheduled for eight nights in the Bahamas and Caribbean, including stops at Half Moon Cay, Grand Turk, and Amber Cove.
Passengers were advised to monitor their emails and sign up for text alerts by texting code CCL5 to CRUISE (278473). Carnival emphasized that travelers should not head to the cruise terminal until a final operational update is provided.
Carnival has acknowledged the impact this delay will have on travel plans and is actively reviewing options while also issuing a pro-rated refund for one day of the cruise fare. This refund will be processed within three weeks and will include any pre-purchased onboard packages and pre-paid gratuities.
"We apologize for the weather-related disruption to your vacation plans and appreciate your understanding," the company concluded.
