On February 5, 2026, the MSC Seaside encountered a mooring incident while docked at MSC Cruises’ private island, Ocean Cay. Strong winds severely impacted mooring conditions, causing multiple securing ropes to fail. As a result, the forward section of the ship drifted away from the pier while several passengers were still disembarking. The ship’s stern remained secured, but passengers on the pier were temporarily unable to board the vessel until the situation stabilized.
The bridge team of MSC Seaside quickly engaged the bow thrusters to realign the ship with the quay. Once positioned correctly and secured, the gangway was restored, allowing passengers to return to the ship. Fortunately, there were no reported injuries, and preliminary assessments showed no significant structural damage to either the ship or the pier.
At the time of the incident, MSC Seaside was completing a short Bahamas roundtrip itinerary from Miami, which commenced on February 2 and concluded as scheduled on February 6.
