MSC Alters Itinerary in Response to Adverse Weather Conditions
MSC Cruises has announced alterations to the itinerary of the MSC Splendida in response to adverse weather conditions anticipated in the Western Mediterranean. Guests on board received a notification stating that the planned stop at La Goulette in Tunisia has been canceled due to rough seas expected on February 12, characterized by wind gusts reaching up to 50 knots.
The cruise line emphasized that the safety and comfort of guests were paramount, leading to the decision to omit the Tunisian port visit, which posed potential risks under such conditions. Instead, the MSC Splendida will spend the day cruising in the Mediterranean, with various entertainment options and activities laid out for passengers.
The ship will alter its schedule to include a visit to Palma de Mallorca on February 13, effectively converting what was initially a sea day into an opportunity for passengers to explore the Spanish port. Guests who had excursions booked for La Goulette will receive refunds credited back to their accounts onboard, and new shore excursions for Palma de Mallorca will be available for booking.
This change in itinerary comes shortly after the MSC Splendida resumed its service following a routine drydock period at the Palumbo Malta Shipyard. The vessel operates a series of seven-night cruises covering popular ports in Spain, Italy, France, and Tunisia, with the current winter schedule extending until late April, when it will transition to a new weeklong itinerary in the region.
