Fred Olsen’s Bolette Resumes Service Following Refurbishment in Falmouth, UK
The cruise ship Bolette, which is the flagship of Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines, has officially resumed service following a 16-day drydock refurbishment at the APCL A&P shipyard in Falmouth, UK. The ship had entered the dock on January 18, 2026, for routine maintenance, technical inspections, and various upgrades to passenger amenities.
During its time in drydock, Bolette underwent significant improvements, including the interior refurbishment of key public spaces such as The Observatory and The Ocean Bar. New carpeting was installed in the main dining room, and the corridors and stairwells were renovated. Over fifty guest cabin bathrooms received updates, and the specialty restaurant was completely transformed, featuring new decor and plans for a rotating international menu set to begin in 2026. The Neptune Lounge also saw enhancements with a new LED wall and infrastructure for aerial performances, promising new theatre productions later in the year.
In addition to aesthetic upgrades, substantial technical work was completed to maintain the vessel’s operational efficiency. This included hull blasting and repainting, tank cleaning, and refurbishment of the tender platforms and stabilisers. More efficient propeller blades were also fitted as part of the cruise line’s performance and sustainability efforts, with a workforce of approximately 350 people, including over 40 apprentices, contributing to the project.
Bolette’s return to service marks the beginning of a 32-day roundtrip voyage to the Caribbean from Liverpool, making this refurbishment her second drydock at APCL A&P Falmouth, which is part of a larger maintenance initiative undertaken by the shipyard for the cruise line.
