Former Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings (NCLH) CEO Harry Sommer had aspirations to lead the company for a decade, as shared during a conversation hosted by the Cruise Lines International Association (CLIA) in November 2025. However, on February 12, 2026, NCLH announced Sommer’s immediate departure after just under three years as CEO. The company’s board appointed John Chidsey, a director with previous experience at Subway and Burger King, as the new CEO. The board emphasized the need for "execution,” “operational rigor,” and “performance improvement” in their announcement, clarifying that Sommer’s exit was not due to any disagreements regarding the company’s operations or policies.
