Princess Cruises Breaks Guinness World Record for Largest Margarita Celebration Aboard Regal Princess
Princess Cruises set a new GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS™ title for the most margaritas sold in an 8-hour period on February 17, 2026. The event took place on the Regal Princess during National Margarita Day celebrations, where a total of 3,410 handcrafted 24K Margaritas were sold, surpassing the previous record of 2,728.
The margaritas, crafted with Pantalones Organic Blanco Tequila, were sold while the ship was docked in Cozumel as part of a 7-day Western Caribbean itinerary leaving from Galveston, Texas. All bars aboard the Regal Princess collaborated to create a spirited atmosphere centered around the line’s signature cocktail.
A Guinness World Records adjudicator confirmed the achievement, noting the vibrant atmosphere that accompanied this record-setting effort. This milestone not only showcased guest engagement but also highlighted the strong commercial partnership between Princess Cruises and Pantalones Organic Tequila. From January 1, 2025, to January 7, 2026, the fleet sold over 1,038,000 units of the 24K Margarita, making it the top-requested cocktail within their beverage program.
The recognition followed the naming ceremony of the Star Princess, where Camila and Matthew McConaughey served as godparents and blessed the vessel with a bottle of tequila—a gesture meant to symbolize good fortune for future voyages.
Princess Cruises aims to enhance the onboard experience through its beverage program by combining storytelling, hospitality, and brand partnerships. The sales achievement and the world record being established concurrently illustrate the significant interest in these cocktails among passengers.
Pantalones Organic Tequila, which includes Blanco, Reposado, and Añejo variations, is available on all ships and is part of select beverage packages. Along with the 24K Margarita, additional cocktails have been developed in partnership with a fleet mixologist, showcasing flavors like tropical blends and paloma-style drinks. A mobile tequila cart is onboard for custom cocktail preparations, increasing the visibility and enjoyment of this beverage partnership.
