New Cruise Terminal at Taranto Port: Agreement Signed for Exciting Developments!
On February 20, 2026, an important agreement was signed in Taranto, Italy, which marks the beginning of a project to build a new cruise terminal dedicated to enhancing the passenger experience at the Ionian port. The framework agreement was established between the port authority and Global Ports Holding Plc (GPH), the operator overseeing cruise facilities at the port. With construction expected to start in October 2026, following the end of the current cruise season, the terminal is scheduled for completion by March 2027, just in time for the next cruise season.
The investment for this new facility exceeds EUR 4.5 million and will cover an area of approximately 2250 m² (24220 ft²) on the western quay of San Cataldo pier, which is the primary cruise ship docking location at the port. The design features will include improved spaces for the embarkation and disembarkation processes, areas specifically for baggage handling, as well as retail sections to showcase local artisanal and culinary products for the arriving passengers.
The plans also include external arrangements for parking passenger vehicles and buses, along with access to an additional quay enabling multiple ships to dock simultaneously.
