Viking Star Kicks Off Port Ancona’s Exciting 2026 Cruise Schedule
The 2026 cruise season at Port Ancona in Italy kicked off with the arrival of the Viking Star from Venice on February 19th. This marks the beginning of an extensive 11-month schedule that anticipates 45 vessel visits through early December.
The presence of Viking Star at both the beginning and end of the season underscores the popularity of Viking OCEAN with its culturally rich itineraries that harmonize with the historic and architectural essence of Ancona and the surrounding Marche region.
Following Viking Star’s inaugural trip, operations will ramp up with regular visits from MSC Lirica starting in early April, continuing weekly until late October. This is part of a broader plan involving 30 port visits from MSC Cruises, reinforcing Ancona’s established position within Adriatic and Eastern Mediterranean cruise routes.
The season will also feature a diverse array of cruise lines beyond these two major players, with scheduled stops from companies such as Marella Cruises, Ponant, Club Med, and Polar Cruises.
This extended cruise calendar aligns with the objectives of the port authority aimed at maintaining year-round activity and integrating cruise traffic into the regional tourism economy, enhancing Ancona’s competitiveness in the broader Mediterranean cruise market.
