MSC Poesia Undergoes Refitting in Preparation for Alaska Deployment
The Musica-class cruise ship, MSC Poesia, has begun an extensive refurbishment at the Palumbo Malta Shipyard in Malta. This significant upgrade is scheduled before her deployment in Alaska starting in May 2026. This refit follows a similar upgrade for her sister ship, MSC Magnifica, which completed renovations in December 2025.
The upgrade is part of MSC Cruises’ comprehensive fleet renewal strategy, marking their most extensive initiative in a decade. The refurbishment, managed by MSC’s technical team, is set to be completed by April, ensuring MSC Poesia is ready for her summer sailing schedule.
Significant enhancements will include the introduction of the exclusive MSC Yacht Club, a luxury area with 69 suites, private amenities, and round-the-clock butler service. Additional onboard improvements will feature two new specialty dining options: an American steakhouse and an Asian sushi bar. The wellness and fitness facilities will also see a redesign, offering an updated spa and gym, outdoor relaxation zones, and a dedicated solarium.
After her refurbishment, MSC Poesia will operate a series of 7-night cruises out of Seattle during the summer, navigating Alaskan waters. Later in 2026, she will reposition to Miami for Caribbean voyages. This upgrade is part of a broader initiative to implement the Yacht Club concept across the entire Musica class fleet, which includes MSC Magnifica, MSC Musica, and MSC Orchestra.
