Oman has experienced a significant surge in maritime tourism, welcoming over 137,000 visitors aboard cruise and yacht vessels in 2025, as reported by the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism. This growth is attributed to the government’s initiatives aimed at enhancing the country’s cruise sector and positioning Oman as a premier maritime destination within the Arabian Peninsula.
Oman’s strategic location and modernized port facilities have made it a favored stop for major cruise lines. Noteworthy ships, such as the Vasco da Gama, have made repeated stops at the Port of Salalah and will return in March 2026, offering tourists the chance to explore the stunning landscapes and heritage of Dhofar. Similarly, the Port of Khasab has attracted vessels like the Celestial due to its proximity to the Strait of Hormuz and its dramatic fjord-like scenery.
Additionally, the cruise liner Arua has made its debut visit to Omani waters, planning to dock at Khasab and Sultan Qaboos Port throughout the 2025-2026 season.
