Hapag-Lloyd Cruises Enhances Winter 2027-2028 Schedule with Exciting Indian Ocean Itineraries

Hapag-Lloyd Cruises has announced plans to expand its winter 2027-2028 expedition program, introducing new routes in the western Indian Ocean to complement its traditional polar itineraries. The expedition ship HANSEATIC nature will operate ten cruises from October 2027 to March 2028, focusing on remote islands, specifically Madagascar and the Seychelles.

This adjustment signifies Hapag-Lloyd’s first foray into prioritizing tropical and subtropical routes alongside its Antarctic operations. Passengers will now have the option to engage in classic Antarctic expeditions or embark on explorations in the Indian Ocean, with both experiences adhering to the same high expedition standards maintained across the fleet.

The new itineraries will see HANSEATIC nature navigating near coastal waters off West Africa, South Africa, Madagascar, and the Seychelles. These destinations are chosen for their rich biological diversity and seclusion. Landings will be facilitated using Zodiac craft, allowing travelers to access conservation zones, atolls, lagoons, and coral reefs that are typically unreachable by larger ships. Each landing and excursion will be supported by interdisciplinary expert teams providing briefings and interpretations on ecological, cultural, and geological contexts.
