Avora Residences Sets Sail with Acquisition of Regent’s Seven Seas Navigator for 2028 Residential Conversion

Avora Residences has made a significant move by acquiring the Seven Seas Navigator from Regent Seven Seas Cruises, planning its transformation into a residential cruise vessel by January 2028 under the new name, Avora Lumina. This acquisition aims to enhance the residential cruise sector, marking a transition into a premium market segment.

Mikael Petterson, the founder of Avora Residences, highlighted the ship’s upcoming role in pioneering extended global living experiences, equipped for both residence and expedition. The strategy seeks to bridge the gap between contemporary residential options and ultra-luxury maritime living, positioning Avora uniquely within the market.

The agreement includes a 9-year charter with an option to purchase, maintaining operational ties with Norwegian Cruise Line. This partnership ensures that the established systems and service quality are preserved, promoting continuity while adapting the Navigator for long-term habitation.

Before its relaunch, thorough renovations will realign the vessel to meet the requirements for permanent residency. These plans feature redesigned public spaces, individualized living options, and a business center to accommodate remote work. The residences will vary in size, designed to serve as primary homes rather than short-term accommodations, focusing on comfort and sustainability.

Avora Lumina’s distinct size enables access to smaller ports and the capability for polar navigation, which will support diverse itineraries, including possible excursions into Antarctic waters. The inaugural itinerary, commencing in 2028 from Lisbon, will embrace a three-year global circumnavigation covering over 140 countries and 400 destinations. Notably, this program will favor longer port stays to encourage deeper engagement with destinations, allowing residents to influence future routing decisions.

To make residential living enjoyable, Avora plans to integrate regional culinary offerings into their onboard dining experience, sourcing local ingredients during extended port stays and offering curated seasonal menus guided by regionally inspired chef tastings.

Overall, Avora Lumina is set to redefine residential cruising and enhance maritime lifestyle options for those seeking a unique global experience from the comforts of home.
