Stornoway Port Announces 89 Cruise Calls for the 2026 Season
Stornoway Port is gearing up for an exciting cruise season in 2026, with a remarkable schedule of 89 cruise calls expected. This initiative is set to strengthen the port’s standing within Scotland’s cruise sector and is anticipated to bring around 60,000 passengers to the Outer Hebrides, generating an estimated £7.8 million for the local economy. The boost to cruise tourism is crucial for supporting local businesses, hospitality services, and attractions.
Key vessels planned for the 2026 season include the MSC Preziosa, Carnival Legend, and Queen Anne. The latter will be making a return following her debut visit in 2025, showcasing ongoing confidence in the port’s capabilities, especially after the improvement of the GBP 59 million Deep Water Terminal, which has significantly enhanced Stornoway’s ability to accommodate larger cruise ships.
With a capacity for over 4,300 passengers, MSC Preziosa and Carnival Legend are expected to bring a substantial number of visitors during their calls. The return of Queen Anne is indicative of a solid partnership between the port authority and Cunard Line, marking a sustained relationship with one of the industry’s long-standing operators.
Kirsty Hutchison, Cruise and Marketing Manager at Stornoway Port, highlighted that the upcoming season reflects the port’s development trajectory, with a steady demand evident from international cruise lines. The presence of such notable vessels strengthens the port’s reputation while the Deep Water Terminal enhances operational capacities, improving the overall visitor experience.
Plans are in place for further development at the terminal and continued enhancements to Arnish Road, which will facilitate access to the Arnish fabrication yard and support area businesses. Hutchison emphasized that these investments are aimed not only at improving infrastructure but also at ensuring long-term economic benefits for the Outer Hebrides, securing jobs, and maintaining Stornoway’s prominence in Scotland’s expanding cruise market.
