TUI River Cruises Set to Expand Fleet with New Ship TUI Elara in 2027
TUI River Cruises is set to enhance its European fleet with the addition of a new riverboat, the TUI Elara, slated to launch in the summer of 2027. This fifth vessel will navigate some of the continent’s most significant waterways, with departures from key locations including Frankfurt, Amsterdam, and Basel.
The name TUI Elara is inspired by the Greek word for "bright" and signifies an adults-only experience, offering voyages that range from 5 to 14 nights. The ship is expected to operate a total of 15 different itineraries, introducing several new routes along the Rhine, Moselle, and the inland waterways of Belgium and the Netherlands.
Among these new itineraries are the Grand Rhine Delights, Rhine Delights, and Dutch & Belgian Gems, all departing from Amsterdam, along with the Rhine Delights 2 itinerary from Basel and the Splendours of the Rhine & Moselle from Frankfurt. Notably, this will be the company’s first schedule including a stop in Brussels.
Katy Berzins highlighted that the addition of TUI Elara is part of TUI’s broader fleet expansion strategy, coming as the company approaches its fifth operational year. This growth is a response to the increasing demand for immersive travel experiences. The aim is to provide guests with more opportunities to explore diverse rivers and destinations during their travels.
