Exciting New Indian Restaurant Set to Launch Aboard the Valiant Lady!
Virgin Voyages is set to unveil its most ambitious culinary endeavor yet with the introduction of an Indian restaurant named Ariya aboard the Valiant Lady. Scheduled to open in May after the ship’s drydock, Ariya is designed to revolutionize the dining experience at sea with a focus on Indian cuisine.
Nirmal Saverimuttu, CEO of Virgin Voyages, expressed enthusiasm about the new addition, stating that each restaurant represents a statement about the evolution of dining at sea. He believes that Ariya will resonate with both returning guests and newcomers. "For those who haven’t sailed with us yet, Ariya might be the reason they book," he added.
The restaurant is a collaboration with Indie Culinaire and celebrity chef Maneet Chauhan, who is well-known for her culinary prowess and media presence. The name "Ariya" honors Sir Richard Branson’s great-great-grandmother, symbolizing the belief that food has the power to transcend distances and cultures.
Ariya’s decor reflects the vibrant essence of India’s spice markets, featuring a semi-private dining area framed with decorative screens reminiscent of a traditional jewelry box. The menu will highlight regional specialties, including Lamb Shank Biryani, Goan Curried Mussels, and Tandoori Pistachio-Crusted Snapper.
Chef Levi Mezick, senior director of culinary program development for Virgin Voyages, noted that the goal is to surprise diners with the unique spice combinations. He hopes everyone at the table will experience an "aha" moment, discovering the depths of flavor that Indian cuisine can offer.
In addition to the food, the cocktail menu will complement these vibrant flavors, featuring drinks like the Maharani Morning and Golden Hour Spritz. The beverage offerings will also include a selection of Indian small-batch spirits and a traditional chai tea service, designed to create a full immersive experience for guests.
