AIDA Cruises Cancels Winter 2026-2027 Season in the Middle East: What You Need to Know

AIDA Cruises has announced the cancellation of its entire Orient program for the winter season of 2026-2027. This decision impacts all voyages scheduled for the AIDAprima vessel between October 19, 2026, and May 20, 2027, which were set to operate in the Middle East.

The cancellation is attributed to ongoing uncertainties in the region and challenges in assessing future security conditions for cruise travel. AIDA emphasized that the safety of passengers and crew is their top priority in making operational decisions. Consequently, the repositioning voyages intended to take AIDAprima around the African coast during both autumn and spring have also been removed from the schedule. The sole remaining sailing is the "Western Europe Highlights from Hamburg 1," scheduled to depart from Hamburg to Las Palmas, running from October 19 to November 1, 2026.

Passengers affected by these cancellations will have the choice to transfer their bookings to alternative cruises within the AIDA fleet. These alternatives will include winter itineraries in regions still deemed safe for cruise operations, such as the Caribbean and the Canary Islands. Those who book a replacement cruise by May 10, 2026, will benefit from an onboard credit of EUR 200 per cabin, or EUR 100 for single-occupancy reservations.

AIDA Cruises is working on a new winter deployment plan for the AIDAprima, with updated itineraries expected to be available for booking in mid-April. The cancellation aligns with a wider trend in the cruise industry, where multiple operators have altered or suspended sailings in the Middle East due to escalating geopolitical tensions. Many cruise lines are redirecting their ships to areas like the Canary Islands, Mediterranean, and Caribbean, where winter cruise operations can continue under more stable conditions.

Similar adjustments have also been made by Costa Cruises, which has revised its winter schedule for the region, with its updated itineraries set to be released by the end of March.
