AmaWaterways Launches “City Escapes” River Cruise Program in Europe
AmaWaterways has unveiled a new river cruise program called "City Escapes," focused on enhancing the travel experience in Europe. This initiative aims to encourage travelers to immerse themselves in major cities like Paris, Amsterdam, Vienna, Strasbourg, and Budapest along the Seine, Rhine, and Danube rivers through extended overnight stays and reduced itineraries during quieter travel periods.
The program offers passengers the chance to savor leisurely travel without the constraints of tight scheduling. With a minimum of 24 hours in key cities, guests can explore museums, indulge in culinary experiences, and visit historic neighborhoods. For instance, while in Paris, travelers can wander through the Île de la Cité or the Le Marais district and take part in excursions to significant sites like the Fondation Louis Vuitton. In Normandy, options may include visits to D-Day Landing Beaches and the picturesque harbor town of Honfleur.
Rhine itineraries will highlight cultural locations such as Breisach, Strasbourg, Heidelberg, Cologne, and Amsterdam, featuring excursions that include tours of the Alsace wine region and visits to historical landmarks. Meanwhile, Danube voyages will combine scenic navigation through places like the Wachau Valley with cultural experiences in cities such as Budapest and Vienna, where guests can enjoy concerts and local tastings.
In addition to the new cruise offerings, AmaWaterways is expanding its land programs with pre- and post-cruise options in cities like London and Rome, featuring cultural tours and culinary activities.
To celebrate the launch of the City Escapes program, AmaWaterways is also offering a limited-time promotional deal on select departures that includes discounts, cabin upgrades, and onboard credits for bookings made from March 6th to June 30th, 2026.
