Celebrity River Cruises Unveils Exciting Destination Discovery Program for 2027–2028 Voyages

Celebrity River Cruises has announced a new destination discovery program aimed at enhancing passenger experiences on its European itineraries starting in 2027. The program features four distinct categories of experiences designed to engage travelers with the cultural and historical contexts of the regions they visit.

The initiative will be offered on all 2027 and 2028 itineraries, including pre- and post-cruise hotel stays in cities such as Prague, Budapest, and Amsterdam. It aims to create a richer connection between travelers and local cultures, combining guided experiences with opportunities for independent exploration.

Laura Hodges Bethge, President of Celebrity Cruises, highlighted that the program intends to enable travelers to engage more personally with the destinations along the rivers they sail. The onboard environment will be tailored for relaxation and social interaction, complementing the immersive shore activities.

The first component, the Storyteller Series, features guided excursions led by locals, artists, and cultural experts. These excursions aim to present destinations through the eyes of those closely linked to the area. For example, in Amsterdam, guests can join a canal captain for a unique tour through lesser-known waterways while learning about the city’s intricate relationship with its canals. In Prague, a local brewer will guide participants through the city’s brewing heritage, visiting historic venues like the U Vejvodu Tavern.

The Skillmaster Series emphasizes hands-on participation in traditional crafts or culinary techniques. In Budapest, guests will explore the Central Market Hall with a local host before trying their hands at preparing classic Hungarian dishes. In Amsterdam, an art excursion will include a trip to the Van Gogh Museum followed by a guided painting session inspired by the famed artist.

The Keys to the City Series offers a digital platform for independent exploration, featuring interactive maps and audio guides curated around personal interests—be it architecture, gastronomy, or history. For instance, itineraries in Bratislava suggest visiting St. Martin’s Cathedral and Bratislava Castle, alongside insights into the architectural significance of the UFO Bridge.

Finally, the Celebrity Takeover Series provides exclusive events at notable locations during each sailing, transforming public spaces into private experiences for cruise passengers, marking a significant highlight of the journey.

In addition to these programs, Celebrity River Cruises will offer extended land packages starting in 2027, with multi-day stays in Prague and Budapest, and Amsterdam adding in 2028. These packages will include hotel accommodations, guided tours, concierge services, daily breakfast, and airport transfers to create a seamless travel experience linking land programs with river cruises.

Bookings for pre- and post-cruise stays are set to open in the summer, while the individual destination experiences will be available starting in 2027. The sailings for the upcoming seasons are already available for booking.
