Celebrity River Cruises Unveils Exciting Destination Discovery Program for 2027-2028 Voyages
Celebrity River Cruises has launched an innovative destination discovery program that will enhance its European itineraries starting in the 2027-2028 season. This program aims to deepen passenger engagement with the cultural and historical contexts of the regions they visit during their voyages.
The initiative features four distinctive categories of experiences, enriching the travel experience before, during, and after the cruise. These offerings will extend to hotel stays in cities like Prague, Budapest, and Amsterdam.
Laura Hodges Bethge, President of Celebrity Cruises, emphasized that the goal of this program is to forge a stronger connection between travelers and the cities along the European rivers. By combining guided cultural activities with individual exploration, the program allows for meaningful interactions that elevate the onboard experience known for relaxation and social interaction.
The first segment, the Storyteller Series, features guided excursions led by local residents, artists, and cultural experts. These excursions aim to present destinations from unique perspectives. In Amsterdam, passengers may enjoy a canal tour with a local captain who shares insights on the city’s historic ties to water, while in Prague, a brewery tour led by a local can provide a taste of the city’s brewing heritage.
The Skillmaster Series invites guests to engage in hands-on activities that reflect local traditions. For example, in Budapest, travelers can shop at the Central Market Hall with a local guide and then prepare traditional Hungarian dishes based on age-old recipes. Similarly, art enthusiasts visiting Amsterdam can take part in a painting session inspired by Vincent van Gogh after touring the Van Gogh Museum.
The Keys to the City Series offers a digital platform that encourages independent exploration of each port. Passengers will have access to interactive maps and multimedia content that guide them on pathways aligned with their interests, such as gastronomy, history, or architecture. Suggested routes may include visits to landmarks in Bratislava, enhancing the overall travel experience.
Finally, the Celebrity Takeover Series will host exclusive events where notable public spaces are transformed into private sites available only to cruise passengers, creating memorable highlights of their journey.
Alongside these experiences, Celebrity River Cruises will introduce extended land packages for pre- and post-cruise stays, with offerings in Prague and Budapest beginning in 2027 and Amsterdam added in 2028. These packages provide comprehensive travel experiences, inclusive of guided tours, hotel accommodations, meals, and seamless airport transfers.
Bookings for these enriching experiences, along with the pre- and post-cruise stays, will begin in the summer of 2026. Currently, sailings for the 2027 and 2028 seasons are open for booking.
