Adora Flora City: China’s Second Large Cruise Ship Makes Waves as It Floats Out
China’s cruise industry has celebrated a significant milestone with the float-out of the Adora Flora City, marking the completion of its primary structural construction. This vessel is China’s second large cruise ship built domestically and is currently being constructed at Shanghai Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding, part of the China State Shipbuilding Corporation.
The float-out signifies that the hull and key structural components are completed, moving the ship into the crucial outfitting and testing phases prior to delivery. Upon completion, the Adora Flora City is expected to be one of the largest cruise ships made in China, boasting a gross tonnage of approximately 141,900 and featuring 16 passenger decks with a total of 2,130 cabins. This design will enable the vessel to accommodate up to 5,232 passengers at full capacity.
The design of the Flora City improves upon the learnings from Adora Magic City, the first large domestically built cruise ship, with an enhanced length of about 17.4 meters and expanded public spaces aimed at better passenger flow. Moreover, the ship will incorporate upgraded environmental systems, including additional equipment for exhaust gas desulfurization and denitrification to lower emissions and enhance environmental performance during its service.
