An outbreak of norovirus has been reported on the cruise ship Star Princess during a Caribbean voyage operated by Princess Cruises. According to the CDC, 153 people onboard showed symptoms consistent with the infection. Among the 4,307 passengers, 104 guests and 49 crew members were affected, with symptoms primarily including vomiting and diarrhea.
The Star Princess was on a 7-day Caribbean cruise that started on March 7 and concluded at Port Everglades on March 14. Princess Cruises released a statement indicating that only a limited number of individuals experienced mild gastrointestinal illness during the trip.
