American Encore Sets Sail: Repositioning for Columbia and Snake River Adventures

American Cruise Lines’ newest riverboat, the American Encore, has successfully concluded its sea trials and is making its way to the Pacific Northwest. After departing from its construction yard at Chesapeake Shipbuilding in Maryland, the vessel will reposition along the eastern seaboard, passing through the Caribbean and via the Panama Canal before heading north to the Columbia River’s mouth near Astoria.

As part of American Cruise Lines’ modern fleet designed for domestic tours, this new vessel is set to accommodate around 180 passengers. The onboard layout prioritizes passenger space and amenities, ensuring a comfortable cruising experience.

During its repositioning, the American Encore is under the guidance of its command team, with shoreside technical staff offering assistance. Important navigational and engineering operations will be monitored continuously, in line with standard procedures for a vessel transitioning from a construction phase to active service.

Upon arrival, the American Encore will debut its service along the Columbia and Snake Rivers, exploring historic routes aligned with America’s westward expansion. The inaugural season is scheduled to kick off in May 2026, offering a series of cruises throughout the Pacific Northwest that will run into the autumn.
