MSC Group Opens Cutting-Edge Entertainment Development Facility in Edinburgh
MSC Group’s Cruise Division has unveiled plans for a new facility, MSC Creative Studios, in Edinburgh, Scotland, aimed at enhancing shipboard entertainment and performer training. This initiative is part of MSC’s broader objective to improve the quality and scale of entertainment for its brands, including MSC Cruises and Explora Journeys.
The company has purchased a production studio in Edinburgh, which is currently under renovation. MSC Creative Studios is anticipated to be fully operational by July 2026, coinciding with the productions scheduled for the cruise line’s late-2026 seasons and future routes.
Once complete, the studio will serve as a creative hub, uniting creative, technical, and production teams. It will feature a dedicated aerial rehearsal space, eleven dance studios, six vocal rehearsal rooms, and a professional recording studio. Additional facilities will include offices, changing rooms, green rooms, and storage areas for props and costumes. This complex will not only facilitate rehearsals but also provide training and development opportunities for stagecraft, allowing performers to efficiently prepare before their shows debut on board.
The Vice President of Entertainment for MSC’s Cruise Division emphasized the significance of this permanent facility for development and training, prioritizing the consistent quality of shows across their fleet. This collaborative environment is designed to foster creativity by allowing performers and technicians to work closely from the initial stages of production while also drawing inspiration from Edinburgh’s rich cultural backdrop.
Recruitment efforts for performers and creative staff related to MSC Creative Studios have already begun.
