TUI Cruises Strengthens Southern Africa Footprint with New Winter Deployment in Cape Town

TUI Cruises has announced an expansion of its services in Southern Africa for the winter 2027-2028 season, with the deployment of the Mein Schiff 5. This ship will operate a series of roundtrip voyages from Cape Town starting in November 2027.

The routes will last 14 days and connect South African ports with Indian Ocean destinations, including Gqeberha, Durban, and Richards Bay, along with international stops in Mauritius and Réunion. Plans are also in place to include Namibian ports during repositioning voyages and extended itineraries.

Cape Town is becoming a prominent turnaround port for international cruise lines, serving as a seasonal base for vessels operating in the region due to its strategic location at the southern tip of Africa.

TUI’s deployment in South Africa is part of a comprehensive winter 2027-2028 schedule that will feature multiple Mein Schiff vessels positioned across various seasonal markets, including the Caribbean, Canary Islands, Asia, and Northern Europe.

In the Caribbean, Mein Schiff 1 will be serving longer itineraries connecting North America to the region, with routes including sailings from Miami to Puerto Rico and stops at the ABC Islands. Other Caribbean-based vessels, such as Mein Schiff 3 and Mein Schiff 4, will journey to ports in Jamaica, the Dominican Republic, Saint Lucia, Martinique, and Antigua and Barbuda.

Mein Schiff 2 will begin its winter season in Northern Europe before transitioning to warmer waters, offering both shorter and extended trips, including a 35-day journey linking Northern Europe to the Caribbean via the Canary Islands and Madeira.

Additionally, Mein Schiff 6 will reposition through Africa to offer two-week cruises in Southeast Asia, featuring destinations such as Singapore, Thailand, Malaysia, and Vietnam. In the Atlantic Islands region, Mein Schiff 7 and Mein Schiff Relax are set to operate island-hopping cruises around the Canary Islands from late October 2027, making stops at places like Gran Canaria, Tenerife, Fuerteventura, and Madeira, with additional visits to Morocco, the Azores, and Cape Verde.

Pricing for these voyages will vary depending on the itinerary length and region, with entry-level fares starting around EUR 729 for a 7-night cruise in the Canary Islands, while longer excursions, such as a 14-night Northern Europe voyage, are anticipated to begin at approximately EUR 2,079 per person.
