Virgin Voyages has unveiled a new cruise series, “On Air at Sea”, in collaboration with iHeartMedia, focusing on podcast-themed voyages. This initiative aims to blend traditional cruise experiences with live audio programming and events centered around popular podcast franchises.
Each sailing will spotlight a specific podcast brand, offering live recordings, guest interactions with hosts, and organized excursions in Bermuda. The goal is to create an immersive environment where podcast fans can engage with content and creators in person.
The inaugural trip, titled "Stuff at Sea," is set for October 2, 2026, departing from New York aboard the Valiant Lady. It will feature episodes from three podcasts under the Stuff network: "Stuff You Should Know," "Stuff They Don’t Want You to Know," and "Stuff Mom Never Told You." Attendees will have the chance to meet the hosts during themed activities and live audience recordings.
This venture not only seeks to enhance the podcast experience but also reflects a wider trend in the cruise industry toward themed sailings catering to cultural interests and fan communities. Virgin Voyages is also planning additional specialty voyages, including one for alumni of Pennsylvania State University, set to sail on August 3, 2026, from the Resilient Lady.
The On Air at Sea series aims to foster meaningful connections among podcast listeners, providing a unique platform for interaction in a travel setting.
