Transcend Cruises, specializing in charter-only river cruises, has announced the acquisition of two additional vessels as part of its fleet expansion. This agreement was made with Den Breejen Shipyard in the Netherlands, and the new ships will elevate the fleet to four by 2028.
The inaugural vessel, Transcend Connect, is slated to commence operations in July, while Transcend Evolve will join the fleet in 2027. However, adjustments have pushed the delivery of both vessels to later dates than initially planned.
The newly confirmed ships will be named Transcend Create and Transcend Engage, with Create expected to be delivered in October 2027 and Engage in early 2028. These vessels will adhere to the existing design framework of the fleet and are designed to accommodate around 120 passengers.
Transcend’s river ships are tailored for the business-to-business charter market featuring adaptive interior layouts ideal for meetings, events, and group travels. They will offer spacious event venues and flexible stateroom configurations that can transform into suites, catering to both small gatherings and full passenger operations.
The launch of Transcend Connect marks a noteworthy progress for Transcend Cruises, who aims to fill a unique niche in the river cruise industry by serving exclusively the group travel sector. Looking towards the future, the company envisions a fleet of up to a dozen ships.
In addition, initial charter agreements are already in place, with National Geographic-Lindblad Expeditions confirming charters for two of the new Transcend vessels.
