Exploring the Enhancements: Three Royal Caribbean Cruise Ships Undergoing Major Upgrades
Royal Caribbean is revamping three of its cruise ships this spring as part of the Royal Amplified fleet modernization program. Following a successful $100 million transformation of Allure of the Seas last year, the cruise line is now focusing on enhancing guest experiences based on feedback and utilization data.
Jay Schneider, Royal Caribbean’s Chief Product Innovation Officer, stated that the Royal Amplified program aims to deliver top-notch culinary options, entertainment, and exciting adventures, maintaining the famous Royal Caribbean hospitality. Following the upgrades, two of the upgraded ships will cruise through Europe during the summer while the third will explore Alaska.
Ovation of the Seas Undergoes Major Changes
Ovation of the Seas is set for significant upgrades ahead of its Alaska cruise season in May. Enhancements will cover the pool deck, nightlife, and favorite dining venues. The pool will expand, adding a new whirlpool and private cabanas. Additionally, new nightlife options like Sound Cellar and an expanded Casino Royale will debut.
On the dining front, the ship will introduce Royal Caribbean’s tiki bar Pesky Parrot, along with restaurants Giovanni’s Italian Kitchen and Izumi Teppanyaki. Notably, new accommodations such as the Ultimate Family Suite and the Panoramic Suite will also be part of the upgrades.
From May to September, Ovation of the Seas will offer seven-night cruises between Seward, Alaska, and Vancouver, British Columbia, with combinations of land tours for deeper exploration. Post-Alaska, it will head to the Mexican Riviera from Los Angeles.
Upgrades for Harmony and Liberty of the Seas in Europe
Harmony of the Seas and Liberty of the Seas are set to receive similar enhancements, improving guest experiences on their summer cruises in Europe starting in May. Harmony will sail Mediterranean routes from Barcelona and feature an upgraded pool deck with a new Caribbean-inspired bar, an adult-only Solarium, and a larger Casino Royale. Dining options will expand to include El Loco Fresh, Samba Grill Brazilian Steakhouse, and Playmakers Sports Bar & Arcade. After its European stint, it will return to the U.S. for Caribbean voyages from Port Canaveral, Florida.
Liberty of the Seas will also debut its upgrades before beginning its European summer cruises from Southampton in late May. It will see improvements to its pool deck, the addition of a Royal Escape Room, and dining venues including El Loco Fresh and Izumi Teppanyaki, along with a Starbucks café. Throughout summer, Liberty will offer various itineraries, including trips to the Norwegian Fjords and around Spain and Portugal, before heading to Galveston, Texas for western Caribbean getaways.
