Princess Cruises Expands Fleet with Order of Three New Ships

Princess Cruises has announced a significant expansion of its fleet with the order of three new cruise ships from the renowned Italian shipbuilder Fincantieri. These new vessels will be built on an innovative platform and powered by liquefied natural gas (LNG). The scheduled delivery dates for the ships are late 2035, 2038, and 2039.

Gus Antorcha, President of Princess Cruises, expressed enthusiasm about the new Voyager class, stating that it aims to provide an enhanced experience for both loyal and new guests. The design of these ships promises a blend of proven elements and fresh concepts tailored to current and aspiring travelers. From exceptional dining options and inviting pool spaces to upgraded entertainment venues, every aspect of the onboard experience is being reimagined.

The new vessels will each weigh approximately 183,000 tons and accommodate around 4,700 guests. While specific design details and features are yet to be disclosed, anticipation is building for the unique offerings these ships will provide.

Pierroberto Folgiero, CEO of Fincantieri, highlighted the long-standing partnership with Princess Cruises and emphasized the significance of securing workload for their shipyards until 2039. This order represents a strategic step for Carnival Corporation as it adds to its growing number of LNG-powered ships, bringing the total to 21. These plans align with Carnival’s broader goals of fleet enhancement, continuing to integrate the latest in guest-facing and marine technologies.
