Carnival Spirit Set for Additional In-Service Repairs: What You Need to Know

Carnival Cruise Line has notified guests aboard the Carnival Spirit that the ship will undergo additional in-service repair work during its voyage starting April 12, 2026. This necessary maintenance has prompted adjustments to the ship’s itinerary, including a delayed departure.

On its way to Seattle, the Carnival Spirit began with a 16-night Panama Canal cruise from Mobile, initially planned to include stops in Cartagena de Indias, Colombia; Puntarenas, Costa Rica; and Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. However, due to the repair requirements, the Spirit departed Mobile in the afternoon of April 13, resulting in the cancellation of its Cartagena visit.

Carnival emphasized that the repair work would not interfere with onboard services but could only be performed while the ship is docked. They acknowledged that the timeline for the Panama Canal transit necessitated these changes and affirmed that the remainder of the cruise itinerary would continue as planned.

As a gesture of goodwill, Carnival has offered a $100 onboard credit to each stateroom impacted by the changes, and all shore excursions originally scheduled for Cartagena will be refunded to guests’ original payment methods.

Earlier in April, the Carnival Spirit had already experienced itinerary shifts due to similar maintenance needs, including missing a scheduled stop in Bimini. This year, along with Carnival Miracle and Carnival Luminosa, the Spirit will be one of three Carnival ships sailing in Alaska, featuring a series of seven-night voyages to popular destinations such as Skagway, Juneau, Ketchikan, and Victoria.
