Cruise Line Duo Commits $175K to Revitalize Alaskan Veterans’ Facility
Princess Cruises and Holland America Line have announced a joint commitment of $175,000 to rebuild the Joseph T. Craig, Post 3 of the American Legion in Ketchikan, Alaska, following its destruction by arson in September 2023. This facility has served the local veterans, their families, and the broader community for over 85 years.
Princess Cruises President Gus Antorcha emphasized the connection to Ketchikan, stating, “We are honored to support the rebuilding of American Legion Post 3 and to stand alongside the veterans and families who rely on it as a place of connection, remembrance, and service.” A portion of the funds, $100,000, will be provided by the Princess Foundation, while Holland America Line has contributed $75,000, which includes support from its On Deck for a Cause program.
Both cruise lines expressed their intent to continue supporting the rebuilding efforts in the future, with further details expected to be released in 2027. Holland America President Beth Bodensteiner highlighted the importance of the American Legion Post as a symbol of resilience and community, stating, “We are proud along with our guests to support the rebuilding of this historic post and to help ensure it remains a place of connection and support for Ketchikan’s veterans and families for generations to come.”
