A new 24/7 public access defibrillator has been inaugurated in Rosyth, Scotland, thanks to funding from Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines. The initiative stemmed from fundraising efforts by guests and team members across the cruise line’s fleet and UK office, which benefitted the Norfolk-based charity Heart 2 Heart. The installation, supported by Cruise Forth, lies outside Rosyth Fish Bar, conveniently located near St John’s RC Primary School and Treetops Family Nurture Centre.
Samantha Stimpson, CEO of Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines, expressed the company’s long-standing relationship with the Port of Rosyth and the importance of supporting the local community. She stated, “Supporting the installation of this public access defibrillator is a simple but impactful way for us to give something back – helping ensure that vital, lifesaving equipment is available to residents and visitors when it’s needed most.”
Since 2022, Fred. Olsen has raised over £43,000 for Heart 2 Heart. The unveiling of the defibrillator coincides with the arrival of the Balmoral in Rosyth, which begins its summer cruise program with 11 sailings between June 10 and August 18. These itineraries include trips to Norway’s fjords, calls to Rouen and Bordeaux, and voyages to Iceland, where guests can witness a solar eclipse.
