Scenic Group is set to enhance its luxury river cruise offerings with the debut of the Scenic Aura on India’s Hooghly River, scheduled to launch in October 2027. This boutique vessel will provide a new range of itineraries that blend river cruising with land programs throughout India and Sri Lanka.
During its inaugural season from October 2027 to March 2028, Scenic Aura will accommodate only 44 guests, allowing for an intimate cruising experience while exploring the cultural and historical regions of West Bengal. The program will feature Scenic Freechoice excursions and Scenic Enrich events, focusing on major cities, religious landmarks, and riverside communities, with additional land journeys throughout India and Sri Lanka.
The deployment of Scenic Aura aligns with the company’s strategy to meet rising demand for culturally immersive travel experiences. The exclusive itineraries aim to grant travelers unique access to various destinations across the Indian subcontinent, while still delivering the high level of service and inclusivity that the Scenic brand is known for.
The new offerings will include five itineraries ranging from 17 to 25 days, with each centered around a 9-night all-inclusive cruise on the Lower Ganges and Hooghly River, a route rich in historical significance. These trips will combine river cruising with overland exploration in North India, South India, Rajasthan, and Sri Lanka.
Guests can expect exclusive Scenic Enrich experiences such as a traditional high tea at Kathgola Palace in Murshidabad, visits to the Hooghly Imambara and ISKCON headquarters, and interactions with local artisans in Matiari. They will have the chance to explore historic streets by traditional toto vehicle, visiting landmarks like the Katra Mosque.
Before entering service, Scenic Aura will undergo a redesign by MKM Yachts to create an intimate boutique experience. Details on the updated interiors will be revealed later, but the accommodations will feature spacious suites with private balconies and Scenic Sun Lounges. The all-inclusive offering will cover multiple dining options, beverages, in-suite minibars, Wi-Fi, wellness facilities, a swimming pool, yoga classes, and fitness amenities, along with selected hotels, internal transportation, gratuities, and small-group tours for a maximum of 25 participants.
Scenic Group has noted a strong early demand for the inaugural season, especially from its loyalty program members. Given the limited capacity of 44 guests per departure, the company anticipates significant interest ahead of the final itinerary and pricing release, aimed for November 2026.
