Carnival Celebration is recognized as one of the cruise line’s newest ships, offering a variety of dining options and entertainment around every corner. However, it does come with its imperfections.
In a recent discussion, TravelHost’s Come Cruise With Me Editor-in-Chief, Dan Kline, and travel agent Dennis Post shared their experiences aboard the Carnival Celebration, highlighting both their favorite aspects and some challenges they faced during their trip.
A Review of What Works and What Doesn’t
Dan Kline: Hi cruisers! I’m Dan Kline from TravelHost, and with me is Dennis Post from Post Card Travel Planning. This is my first Carnival Cruise in eight years. My affection for cruising started with Carnival, thanks to my first sails on the Carnival Conquest.
Let’s delve into the great features of Carnival Celebration and touch on a few not-so-great experiences. I’d like to begin on a high note—the food. It’s diverse and accommodating for all budgets. If you’re looking for something upscale, the steakhouse stands out as one of the best I’ve experienced.
Dennis Post: Absolutely!
Kline: For more casual dining, we had a reasonably priced sushi lunch that was both delightful and ample. The ship offers an array of food options; I was pleasantly surprised by the Guy Fieri barbecue, which looked unassuming but was a pleasant surprise in taste and completely included in the cruise fare.
There’s even a decent breakfast buffet at Guy Fieri’s venue, which avoids the rush of the main buffet—always a plus! However, let’s discuss our experience on the pool deck, which was a bit less enjoyable.
Post: Indeed, we ventured to the aft deck on Deck 16, where Big Chicken, Shaquille O’Neal’s restaurant, is located. It was incredibly crowded. To find some relief, we headed to the adult-only solarium, which was nice but to access the main pool deck was overwhelming.
Kline: It didn’t help that everything was bustling. The solarium was windy, making it challenging to relax.
Post: Exactly. There weren’t enough chairs available. Here’s a note for cruise lines: consider adding cubbies for passengers to safely store their items while they swim. I found it tricky to balance my belongings in that wind—my half-full drink just blew across the deck!
Kline: On a more positive note, the ship’s beauty and lively atmosphere can’t be understated.
Post: For sure. We were on this ship three months earlier and appreciated its layout. The new style ships like Mardi Gras and Jubilee have a fantastic flow. There’s always something happening, with hand-held food available all day—chicken sandwiches, burgers, pizza, seafood, you name it.
Kline: In fact, the abundance of food might mean you actually eat less! With so many temptations available, you end up sampling bits rather than overindulging.
In summary, we are enjoying our time aboard Carnival Celebration. We look forward to future cruises and hope to see you on deck!
