Cunard Reveals Exciting Refurbishment Plans for Queen Victoria

Cunard has officially revealed detailed plans for the upcoming refurbishment of the iconic Queen Victoria, a ship that has long held a place of honor within its fleet. This autumn, the vessel will undergo significant enhancements after a scheduled dry dock period. The improvements aim to refresh her renowned public spaces, upgrade the celebrated Grill accommodations, and introduce a new wellness venue unique to this ship.

The extensive refurbishment is scheduled to take place at Damen Shiprepair in Rotterdam from October 17 until November 5, 2026. After this period, Queen Victoria will return to service on November 7, continuing her voyages for the remainder of the 2026 season and into 2027.

Key areas of the ship will see revitalization. The Grand Lobby will be refreshed to create a more striking first impression for passengers, while the Queens Room—widely recognized for Cunard’s afternoon tea service—will be redesigned to maintain its role for tea, live performances, and formal galas.

Accommodations are also set to receive significant upgrades. The Grill Suite offerings will be enhanced with new furnishings and design treatments for both the Queens Grill and Princess Grill suites. Additionally, eight new Britannia staterooms will be created, including three premium Britannia Deluxe Oceanview staterooms featuring floor-to-ceiling windows. These new rooms are already available for booking for voyages starting November 11.

In a move that aligns Queen Victoria with her newer fleetmates, she will also feature The Pavilion Wellness Café, becoming the third Cunard ship to do so. This café will provide breakfast, lunch, and daytime dining focused on plant-based cuisine alongside sustainably sourced meat, fish, and dairy options.

Katie McAlister, president of Cunard, shared that Queen Victoria holds a special place in the hearts of many guests, known for her unique character and elegant British charm. Cunard’s team is enthusiastic about refining the ship’s offerings while respecting its rich heritage.

Upon completing her refurbishment, Queen Victoria will embark on a diverse program for 2027, including voyages to popular destinations such as the Mediterranean, the Norwegian Fjords, and the Canary Islands.
