MSC Cruises has recently initiated sea trials for its new flagship, the MSC World Asia, departing from the Chantiers de l’Atlantique shipyard in Saint-Nazaire, France. This significant milestone involves conducting technical and operational tests ahead of the ship’s anticipated delivery later this year and its inaugural cruise scheduled for December.
During the trials, engineers and technical specialists are assessing various aspects of the vessel, including its manoeuvrability, propulsion systems, navigation and safety equipment, as well as the performance of onboard technologies under real-world conditions. This stage is essential for the vessel’s commissioning program, which concludes with final acceptance by MSC Cruises.
Once the sea trials conclude, MSC World Asia will return to Saint-Nazaire for final touches and outfitting before its official delivery. The vessel, powered by LNG, is designed to accommodate approximately 6,700 guests and measures 333 meters in length and 47 meters in beam. After entering service, it will debut in the Western Mediterranean during its inaugural season.
