The Walt Disney Company recently announced its financial results for the fiscal third quarter ending June 28, 2026, revealing a net income of $2.8 billion on revenues of $22.7 billion. This represents a decline from the previous year, which reported a net income of $5.9 billion and revenues of $23.7 billion, attributed in part to restructuring and impairment charges. The earnings per share fell from $2.92 to $1.52.
Despite these figures, Disney’s Experiences segment, encompassing parks and the Disney Cruise Line, saw a 10 percent revenue increase, while Entertainment grew by 6 percent. This segment accounted for 39 percent of total revenues, with Entertainment contributing 45 percent.
The quarter marked a milestone as it was the first full period during which both of Disney Cruise Line’s newest ships, the Disney Destiny and Disney Adventure, operated, resulting in a reported 50 percent increase in stateroom capacity. The company expressed optimism regarding occupancy levels and future bookings, indicating plans to expand cruise line capacity further.
Disney’s global Experiences business recorded a 4 percent increase in guest attendance compared to the previous year’s third quarter. This upward trend seen in guest numbers aligns with Disney’s global investment strategy. Earlier this year, the Disney Adventure launched in Singapore, joining an expanding fleet of eight ships which together have an annual guest capacity of approximately 1.7 million.
Looking ahead, the Disney Destiny will come into service in 2027, followed by another ship in 2029, alongside a new class of vessels set to launch in late 2029 and 2030, aiming for a total of 13 ships by the completion of this expansion phase.
