The Port of Vancouver has issued its second cruise update for 2026, revealing impressive passenger traffic at Canada Place. In July alone, over 290,000 passengers passed through the terminal, setting a new monthly record, with August expected to match this high volume. This surge means that 40% of the 1.4 million passengers anticipated this cruise season will have traveled through the terminal in just two months, yet the flow of passengers remains smooth despite these unprecedented numbers.
In addition to the exciting passenger milestones, the Port of Vancouver will host its annual Port Day on August 29, featuring various family-friendly activities, live performances, exhibits, and marine demonstrations, complemented by a special call from Princess Cruises’ Discovery Princess. The port also recently celebrated the successful implementation of its facial biometrics system, which processed its millionth cruise passenger just two years after its launch. In an effort to promote sustainability, the port has urged cruise partners to actively participate in water conservation efforts. The port recommends that crew members limit the duration of water usage, specifically advising they keep flushing times to a maximum of two minutes when connecting the freshwater valve to the vessel. This initiative aims to protect Vancouver’s vital water resources during the busy summer months.
