SeaDream Reveals Exciting Plans for New Yacht Cruise Ship Set to Launch in 2029

SeaDream Yacht Club has announced plans to enhance its fleet by introducing a new and larger yacht cruise ship, SeaDream III, set to debut in 2029. This decision comes amid a growing market for luxury cruises and the aging of their two existing ships, which are now 42 years old.

The launch details were revealed on September 1, with reservations opening for the inaugural voyage scheduled to depart from Hong Kong on July 10, 2029. The ship will embark on a grand inaugural year that includes destinations across the Orient, Southeast Asia, Indonesia, Australia, New Zealand, India, Arabia, the Mediterranean, Northern Europe, and the Atlantic, eventually reaching Canada, the U.S., and the Caribbean by fall 2030. Notably, on January 5, 2031, SeaDream III will undertake the cruise line’s first world cruise, lasting 180 days and concluding in London.

Currently in the engineering phase, the new vessel will be built by China Merchants Cruise Shipbuilding in collaboration with European engineers. SeaDream III is designed to be significantly larger at 16,500 gross tons compared to the older ships, which are only 4,333 GT. It will accommodate 230 passengers and feature an approximate crew of 200.

The ship’s design is centered around open-air living, boasting expansive upper decks, dedicated pool areas, both indoor and outdoor dining options, and multiple watersports marinas. Unlike many ultra-luxury vessels, which highlight suites with private balconies, SeaDream III will include 20 staterooms that do not feature balconies, yet aim to provide an intimate yachting experience with exceptional service.

Atle Brynestad, founder and owner of SeaDream Yacht Club, expressed enthusiasm for the new ship’s design, stating that it is intended to allow passengers to explore distinctive harbors while maintaining the high level of personalized service that SeaDream is known for. The ambitious project is seen as a new chapter for the cruise line, building upon the legacy of its original ships, SeaDream I and SeaDream II, which were launched in the mid-1980s.

The introduction of SeaDream III follows a previous failed attempt to expand the fleet, which included a canceled order for a Polar 6-class vessel in 2019. The success of the new ship could solidify SeaDream Yacht Club’s position in the competitive luxury cruise market as they renew their commitment to offer unique and personalized travel experiences.
