Corazul Announces Charter Contract Signing; Vessel Set to Enter Drydock Soon

Corazul Cruceros is progressing in its plans to launch cruising services with the Buenavista in Brazil later this year, having recently secured a bareboat charter agreement with the ship’s current owners. The Buenavista is currently anchored off Hong Kong and was previously operated by Astro Ocean Cruises as the Piano Land.

Cammile Appeldorn, Chief Operating Officer of Corazul, stated that the Buenavista is set to enter drydock soon, with preparations to begin for its repositioning voyage to Brazil. The ship will leave Hong Kong on September 20, taking a 30-day route to Santos that includes a technical stop in Mauritius. During this journey, additional work will be performed on the vessel to minimize downtime.

Appeldorn expressed optimism about the timeline, mentioning that the ship might begin operations in Brazil earlier than scheduled, possibly by October 23, 2026. He emphasized the importance of thoroughly preparing the ship for its new Portuguese-speaking clientele, as it has been primarily oriented toward Chinese guests.

Corazul plans to offer a series of three- to seven-night cruises from Santos and Rio de Janeiro. They are also arranging a traditional christening ceremony for the Buenavista, with specifics to be revealed later. The company’s aim is to deliver a unique onboard experience centered around entertainment and food and beverage offerings, reinforcing the notion that the concept and guest experiences will be the highlight of their service rather than just the physical infrastructure of the ship.

They are enthusiastic about bringing their vision to life and believe that their preparations will ensure a successful launch of services in South America.
