Corazul Cruceros is making significant strides towards launching its services with the Buenavista in Brazil later this year. The company’s COO, Cammile Appeldorn, confirmed that a bareboat charter agreement has been signed with the vessel’s owners. Currently anchored off Hong Kong, the Buenavista was last in operation under Astro Ocean Cruises as the Piano Land.
The 1995-built ship is set to enter drydock soon, after which preparations will begin for its transition to Brazilian waters. Appeldorn noted that the Corazul team will board the vessel while it’s in the shipyard to start necessary alterations.
The Buenavista will leave Hong Kong on September 20, embarking on a 30-day repositioning voyage to Santos, which includes a brief stop in Mauritius. During this journey, substantial modifications will be made to the ship to expedite its arrival in Brazil, as Appeldorn expressed the desire to avoid delays in starting operations.
Corazul aims for the Buenavista to arrive in South America in early November, kicking off a series of cruises ranging from three to seven nights out of Santos and Rio de Janeiro. While the ship is anticipated to arrive in late October, there is potential for an earlier debut, with tentative plans for an inaugural cruise around October 23, 2026.
A traditional christening ceremony is also in the works, with details to be unveiled later. The onboard experience will focus on entertainment and food and beverage offerings. Appeldorn emphasized that the company’s emphasis lies in the experiential aspects rather than just the ship’s physical attributes, highlighting their extensive preparation for this exciting new venture.
