Royal Caribbean issued an apology, asserting that the repairs had been completed and the ship would be ready for its next scheduled sailing.
Initially, on August 22nd, guests received an email stating that the cruise duration would be shortened to five days. Those who did not wish to take the abbreviated trip were offered options, including refundable onboard credit and future cruise credits.
Despite being allowed to enjoy the ship’s amenities while they scrambled to arrange travel back home, many passengers expressed their dissatisfaction online. Comments on social media revealed feelings of disappointment, especially from those celebrating special occasions like birthdays.
Affected passengers were promised full refunds, retention of their onboard credits, and additional future cruise credits. The next voyage aboard the Serenade of the Seas is set to begin as scheduled after the resolution of the technical difficulties.
