MSC Cruises Cancels MSC Armonia’s Repositioning Voyage to South Africa: What You Need to Know

MSC Cruises has made the decision to cancel the MSC Armonia’s planned repositioning voyage to South Africa due to ongoing security concerns in the Red Sea region. This voyage, which was set to embark from Marghera, Italy, on November 1st, 2026, would have taken a total of 26 nights and included stops in Croatia and Greece before passing through the Suez Canal and Red Sea.

The cruise line indicated that the current geopolitical circumstances have compromised the safe passage necessary for transit through these key maritime routes. Consequently, MSC Cruises prioritized passenger safety and well-being in making this cancellation decision.

After navigating the Red Sea, MSC Armonia was scheduled to visit ports including Aqaba in Jordan, Mahé in Seychelles, Diego Suarez in Madagascar, and Port Louis in Mauritius, before finally arriving in Durban. This repositioning was aimed at preparing the vessel for its inaugural regional season during the 2026-2027 winter.

As for the passengers affected by this cancellation, MSC Cruises has extended several options. They may opt for a full refund without penalty or transfer their reservations to another Grand Voyage of similar duration. The replacement voyages could be up to three nights longer, with the option of choosing the more favorable fare between the original and the selected alternative.

Alternatively, guests can transfer their bookings to another currently available MSC Cruises voyage, where the new fare will apply, and prior payments will be carried over to the new reservation.

MSC Cruises acknowledged the inconvenience this cancellation might cause to its passengers who had planned for this voyage, emphasizing that the decision came after a thorough review of the prevailing conditions.
