Cordelia Cruises has announced the delivery of the Norwegian Sky, a vessel previously operated by Norwegian Cruise Line. This acquisition, part of a long-term lease agreement, was confirmed by Jurgen Bailom, the President and CEO of Cordelia Cruises, who shared an update on social media welcoming the ship to their fleet.
Currently situated in drydock in Yalova, Turkey, the Sky is set to undergo refurbishment before making its debut in India, joining the Empress for cruises departing from Mumbai and Chennai. It is scheduled to start its inaugural season on October 23, 2026, offering short itineraries of two to five nights, featuring destinations like Lakshadweep and Goa. Furthermore, from June 2027, the ship will also operate seven-night cruises between Chennai and Singapore, which will include stops in Malaysia and Thailand.
Originally ordered by Costa Cruises, the Sky, a 77,104-ton ship, was completed at the Lloyd Werft shipyard in Germany before beginning its service in mid-1999. After briefly serving as the Pride of Aloha in Hawaii, the vessel concluded its 27-year tenure with Norwegian Cruise Line earlier this month with a nine-night Mediterranean cruise. A planned repositioning voyage to the Middle East was canceled due to security concerns in the region.
