In light of the imminent threat, Royal Caribbean has informed passengers that their seven-night cruise, which included stops in Ensenada, Cabo San Lucas, and Mazatlán, will now be modified for safety reasons. Ensenada will no longer be visited, replaced instead with an additional sea day, while the stop in Cabo San Lucas has also been eliminated.
The new plan involves an earlier arrival in Mazatlán and an extended stay in Puerto Vallarta, where passengers will have a full day to explore. Guests who had already booked excursions for Ensenada or Cabo San Lucas will receive refunds as onboard credits, while the cruise line has not announced any additional compensation for the disruption.
As Hurricane Polo continues its path, it may also require further itinerary changes for other vessels in the region, including the September 26 sailing of Virgin Voyages’ Brilliant Lady, which is set to divert to the California coast instead of heading to the Mexican Riviera.
