Ferrol Cruise Port is set to debut its new passenger terminal in spring 2027. Operated by Global Ports Holding (GPH), the terminal aims to enhance passenger traffic, promote regional tourism, and fortify the connection between the port and the city of Ferrol.
Jose Antonio Alvarez Vidal, the president of the Ferrol-San Cibrao Port Authority, expressed that the collaboration with GPH is a strategic move for both the port and the city. He highlighted the project’s significance in showcasing Ferrol’s maritime and historical heritage to residents and visitors.
Francesc Grau, GPH’s Regional Director for the West Mediterranean, stated that Ferrol is a valuable addition to their portfolio, increasing their presence in Spain and the broader Atlantic region. He anticipates that the new terminal will create significant opportunities for the port and its surroundings.
The establishment of the terminal comes through a 30-year concession granted by the Ferrol-San Cibrao Port Authority to GPH. The project will unfold in two phases, initially constructing a 480m2 terminal at the outer quay, with construction expected to begin this year. Operations are slated to commence during the 2027 cruise season, coinciding with the expected surge of more than 22 million passengers through Ferrol, further consolidating GPH’s foothold in Spain and the Atlantic.
