Singapore Cruise Centre (SCC) has inaugurated its new HarbourFront terminal, marking the completion of a 24-month development program aimed at enhancing regional ferry and cruise operations. Senior Minister of State Murali Pillai emphasized the critical role of the region’s ferry and cruise networks in connecting Singapore with nearby markets for both business and leisure. He noted the increasing significance of technology and innovation to streamline passenger journeys amid changing travel trends.
The terminal commenced full operations on July 15, 2026, and has successfully processed over 720,000 ferry and cruise passengers since then. The facility features advanced automation and a streamlined passenger flow design, significantly improving processes such as check-in, baggage handling, and boarding to accommodate future growth in traffic.
A key feature of the new terminal is the interoperable passenger departure control system, created in collaboration with Sqiva, a travel tech company. This system unifies ferry and cruise operations through the Cruise and Ferry Operating System (CFOS), which integrates with SITA’s FAST self-service platform, facilitating seamless transitions from check-in to boarding.
Moreover, the terminal’s baggage handling system allows for real-time tracking and management of luggage, increasing operational efficiency. With a redesigned layout, ferry operators are grouped on a single level, simplifying passenger movement through the terminal. Passengers who book online can use self-service options to quickly validate their tickets, check in, and print necessary travel documents in under a minute, streamlining the entire boarding process.
