The Carnival Panorama has revised its current Mexican Riviera cruise itinerary as Hurricane Simon affects conditions along Mexico’s Pacific coast.
The ship canceled planned calls to Puerto Vallarta and Mazatlán and delayed its visit to Cabo San Lucas. In a message to passengers on Oct. 13, Captain Salvatore Mangraviti said rough weather had made it unsafe to operate water shuttles to Cabo. The ship returned to the destination on Oct. 14, according to AIS data.
Instead of the canceled port calls, the ship is scheduled to visit Ensenada on Saturday, Oct. 17, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Carnival said shore excursions booked through the cruise line for Puerto Vallarta and Mazatlán will be refunded to passengers’ onboard accounts. Cabo San Lucas tour bookings were adjusted for the rescheduled visit.
The eight-night cruise departed Long Beach on Oct. 10. The captain said the crew would continue monitoring conditions, emphasizing that passenger safety remained the priority.
The ship’s West Coast operations have faced several weather-related disruptions since late September, including itinerary changes linked to Hurricane Polo and Hurricane Rachel.
