Royal Caribbean’s Liberty of the Seas is returning to North America after a major refurbishment in France. The Freedom-class ship began its 15-night repositioning cruise from Southampton to Galveston on October 16, 2026, with calls in Spain and Portugal, including Vigo, Lisbon and Funchal.
From Galveston, the 3,812-passenger ship will sail year-round Western Caribbean cruises. Four- and five-night itineraries will visit Mexican ports such as Cozumel and Costa Maya. Longer sailings are also planned, including a nine-night cruise in August 2027 with stops in Cozumel, Roatán, George Town and Falmouth.
The ship is scheduled to remain in Galveston through April 2028, then return to Europe for a summer season with departures from Barcelona, Piraeus and Civitavecchia.
The refit, completed in France in May as part of Royal Caribbean’s Royal Amplified program, added staterooms and updated public spaces. New features include a Starbucks, Izumi Teppanyaki, an expanded Casino Royale, a Royal Escape Room and a refreshed pool deck.
