Royal Caribbean’s Symphony of the Seas Stranded: Unable to Dock in San Juan, Puerto Rico

Royal Caribbean’s Symphony of the Seas has faced challenges docking in San Juan, Puerto Rico, due to ongoing repair work on the port’s dock designated for Oasis-class vessels. The pier has been out of service since April 2024, and its reopening requires approval from the U.S. Coast Guard.

According to Captain Luis Rodriguez, who leads the U.S. Coast Guard Sector San Juan, Pier 3 West is built to accommodate the largest cruise ships globally. However, following damage to the mooring structure, the Coast Guard is collaborating with the San Juan Cruise Port and Puerto Rico Ports Authority to ensure the infrastructure is safe for cruise operations.

As a consequence of these developments, Royal Caribbean has had to cancel upcoming stops in San Juan, specifically for December 28th and January 12th, informing affected passengers about the changes via email. They acknowledged the significance of each destination for vacationers and promised to find suitable alternatives during this disruption.
